Let us welcome, May, the month of flowers. For the whole month, Filipinos celebrate a Catholic festival known as ‘Flores de Mayo’ (translated as Flowers of May). Everyday, churchgoers offer flowers in honor of the Blessed Mary Queen of Flowers (also called ‘Reyna de las Flores’).
It was believed that it originated from a historical town of Malolos, Bulacan in 1865, when the young girls made a floral offering to the Virgin Mary in the parish church.
